McIver has put forward a resolution in the House honoring the victims of the 1967 Newark Rebellion, which she says the city is “still recovering from.” The congresswoman tells us about her new bill AND some of the impacts she expects from Trump’s budget. 

 

Congresswoman McIver is also facing assault charges from Trump’s DOJ tied to an incident at an ICE detention center earlier this year, the same incident that saw Mayor Ras Baraka arrested on charges that were quickly dropped. The Congresswoman says the charges against her are similarly “politically motivated.”
