Gary, Indiana went without power for two weeks following major storms, much longer than surrounding areas. The city has a population of 70K, 80% of whom are Black. As the food in their fridge rotted and temperatures soared, conditions became dire. Gary’s mayor, Eddie Melton, joins NLP to explain the situation.

–Two unvaccinated people have died from measles in Pennsylvania, the first recorded measles deaths in Pennsylvania in 35 years.

 

–Hakeem Jeffries took a meeting with Jared Kushner this week which the House Minority leader received a lot of heat for. 

 

–Target has officially apologized for a racist costume on their website that was compared to black-face before being taken down. 

 

–California makes progress in reparations.
