DJ Habibibeats discusses growing up Palestinian as a kid of immigrants, feeling between cultures, and how that perspective shaped his music and identity. Seeking a unique sound, he began fusing Arabic and Middle Eastern music with club genres like baile funk, house, and amapiano, starting with a Nancy Ajram remix that gained millions of views and sparked his Habibi’s House parties, which grew from 80 attendees to repeated sellouts. He describes touring, collaborating with emerging regional artists, preparing an EP titled “Benzeen,” and navigating the tension of throwing parties while speaking publicly about Palestinian suffering and using his platform.
