Dr Ruth Barratt-Peacock is a musicologist and literary studies scholar. She has published widely in the areas of childhood studies, television, popular music and East Asian popular culture. She is the recipient of a Walter Benjamin grant for research on the social construction of childhood in metal music funded by the German Research Foundation in cooperation with the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom. Her most recent papers appear in English: Journal of the English Society Oxford, East Asian Journal of Popular Culture, Australasian Journal of Popular Culture and Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures and Metal Music Studies. Frances Georgeson is currently the General Manager of the Australian Children's Music Foundation (ACMF) is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the mental and emotional well-being of disadvantaged and Indigenous children and youth at risk across Australia, using music as a tool for belonging and bridge building. Before this, Frances has been in the music industry in various capacities, and is an extremely accomplished music marketer and producer, having worked for majors like Universal and BMG. We’re thrilled to have you with us Frances - welcome!

With interviews from the who you already know, and who you really SHOULD know of Australian music, the book showcases the stories, sounds and perspectives that are not as often considered in the Oz Music sphere. Also a mum and member of the broader village, with us she talks about raising kids, breaking down gates and what it might be like if we all thought outside the box a bit more. Currently on break as a musician (her band Camp Cope said goodbye a while back), we also talk about what the next steps might be.

An absolute legend of Australian music, Jess is a singer, a writer, a performer - multi ARIA award winner, and recently inducted into the National Indigenous Music Awards Hall of Fame - incredible. She’s been in the spotlight for nearly 20 years, and after a long time at major labels, she has recently taken the next big boss lady move by stepping out as an independent artist on the new label Jamally, with her new single “While I Got Time”.  Oh, and somewhere in there she finds time to be an incredible Mum, Sister and Daughter.
