Somewhere in the music industry, between 'sex drugs and rock and roll' and The Wiggles, is the rest of us. 'Music Mothers and Others' is an audio parents group -a chance to discuss how parenting fits (or doesn't) into music industry life. During the series we'll talk to people from across the industry - artists, promotors, techs, broadcasters, writers, academics, teachers - anyone who has a gig in 'industry', whatever that means.

Hosts Liz Giuffre and Shelley Brunt are industry veterans, academics and parents - as well as members of the broader village. For more see us at https://musicmothersandothers.com/ and of course at 2SER FM, https://2ser.com/

This episode we speak to Bella Jessen. A musician, student and genuine young person, Bella got in touch with us for a project she was doing on mothers and listening - we couldn't resist! In this chat she asks us questions as well as the other way around, and it's a lovely way to explore how music can help us build our identities, as well as learn who our parents and carers are as people, rather than just people we roll our eyes at when we're teenagers. You can catch Bella's music at Crushed Lavender and The Robbies - a future star for sure!

Our guests today are Ben Lee and Georgia Maq, who are about to embark on their “Two Most Annoying People You Love Tour” around Australia. If you know Georgia from Camp Cope but don't know Ben then do a deep dive - and vice versa if you're a Ben fan but are new to Georgia's solo stuff in particular.

Annoying fans from the nineties, naughties and today with their stubbornly brilliant lyrics and melt the hardest of hearts harmonies, coming together means joining different generations and approaches to bloody good Aussie music.

We’re thrilled to have them here, telling us about what they do and how the industry could do it better.
