Who says your competitive years have to be behind you as you get older?

Singapore’s masters athletes have been flying the flag at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, competing against athletes from more than 80 countries and bringing home medals in events ranging from race walking and hurdles to the high jump and relays.

But behind the medals are years of training, discipline and a determination to keep pushing themselves well into their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

On We Are Family!, we meet some of Team Singapore’s masters athletes, Ms Cassandra Chew, Freelance Producer by day and clutched a bronze for the  women's 40 4x100m race and Mr Martin Wong who is a Regional Chief Executive and placed 5th for the men's 55 4 x 100m race to find out what keeps them competing, how sport fits into their lives as they grow older, and what their stories can teach us about staying active, ambitious and young at heart at every stage of life.
