Morning Shot: What steps can be taken to move South Korea beyond its turbulent history of presidential impeachments?

View descriptionShare

More than three weeks after a slew of intense hearings, South Koreans are still awaiting Constitutional Court's deliberation on the motion to impeach South Korea’s former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

As deliberations drag on, protests have since intensified as hundreds of thousands of South Koreans take to the streets to rally.

The decision could help bring an end to the months of political turmoil Yoon unleashed on 3rd Dec 2024, with his failed attempt to place his country under martial law.

On this episode of Morning Shot, Dr Ryu Yongwook, Assistant Professor from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS shares his insights.
