Morning Shot: Can Singapore still remain competitive in a world where geopolitical concerns take precedence over open trade?

View descriptionShare

As part of the reinventing Destiny Conference held to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, DPM Lawrence Wong cautioned that small states like Singapore will be at threat, in a world where geopolitical concerns take precedence over open trade.

When asked about his thoughts on developed world governments from the developed world stepping in and funding various industries or technologies, DPM Wong also recollected a time back in the 90s - when Singapore was routinely criticised for having active state involvement in the markets.

Dr Tan Khee Giap, Chairman of the Singapore National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation shares his insights on Singapore’s standing amid geopolitical nuances and how our little red dot is working hard at keeping its competitive edge.
