Love them or hate them, most companies in the corporate world - big and small - have kept up with the tradition of performance reviews, or appraisals.

But critics argue that they are losing their relevance because existing models aren't necessarily always tied to company culture. 

So should such reviews be done away with entirely? How can they be re-imagined to produce more effective results for both employee and company?
