The increased awareness around getting better quality sleep has given rise to a multi-billion dollar slumber industry worldwide, with a plethora of wearable devices, mouth tapes, nostril expanders and jaw straps available to the public.
But it has also given rise to "sleepmaxxers" - netizens who are obsessive about sleep and proudly display the extreme lengths they will go to in pursuit of better shut-eye - online.
Experts warn that this kind of behaviour can have negative impacts on individuals, likening it to orthorexia, an obsessive fixation with healthy eating.
