Morning Shot: Unchartered Waters - How prepared is Singapore for floods amid the Northeast Monsoon?

View descriptionShare

In the lead-up to the year-end monsoon season, National water agency PUB launched its first campaign aimed at encouraging the public to be ready for floods amid erratic weather and more intense storms caused by climate change.

As part of its mnemonic Flash campaign, the public is advised to follow these tips:

Follow PUB flood alerts

Learn how to be flood-ready

Avoid flooded areas

Share PUB flood updates

Help others where possible

The agency has also stepped up checks across the island to make sure that public drains are not blocked and can carry storm water effectively. This is especially so for key buildings and flood-prone areas.

On this episode of Morning Shot, Muhd Zaki Mohamedzen, Principal Engineer at PUB’s Catchment and Waterways Department shares his insights on PUB's efforts.
