Brasserie Astoria has introduced a refreshed menu under Head Chef Emil Cecil Ess, blending comforting flavors with brasserie classics.

Highlights include starters like Stracciatella with French peaches and Seafood Pepperonata with seared scallops and prawns, and mains such as Grilled Celeriac and the well-received Tagliolini Fresca, now permanent.

Aside from their new dishes, they also have an upcoming 4-hands collaboration on the 27th of October 2024, with Bjorn Shen of Artichoke.

Culture Club: New food and collaboration - what else is next for Brasserie Astoria?

Singapore stocks began the day trading in positive territory, despite overnight losses in markets abroad.  

In early trade, the Straits Times Index (STI) rose 0.2 per cent to 3,603.31 points after 53.8 million securities changed hands in the broader market. 

In terms of companies to watch today, we have Singapore Airlines, after SIA Group’s passenger capacity for September rose 9.7 per cent, outpacing the month’s 7.7 per cent passenger traffic growth. 

Elsewhere from a selloff in global technology stocks amid disappointing guidance from Dutch chip giant ASML, to news of Qualcomm likely waiting for the US election before deciding a move on Intel, more corporate headlines remain in focus.  

Also on deck – how former US President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency platform World Liberty Financial had a faltering sales launch.

Shi Xuan initially aimed to join the Singapore Police Force due to her interest in logical reasoning but shifted to a career in education after accepting an offer from The Learning Lab (TLL).

Despite struggling with math in secondary school, a supportive teacher in Sec 3 inspired her to pursue a teaching career to offer similar guidance to others.

After joining TLL, her passion for education deepened, but she eventually felt limited by the digital learning platform used during COVID-19.

Seeking a more advanced and innovative environment, she moved to Spark Education, where she collaborates with experts to create interactive, tech-driven curriculum materials.

On R.I.C.H., Hongbin Jeong and Roshan Gidwani speaks to Shixuan Kuah, Curriculum Specialist, Spark Education Group, to share more about her story.
