Wisconsin's Master Cheesemaker program is unique to anywhere else in the United States! Only when you go to Europe, do you see the dedication to details of all types of cheese production. Two of the "enforcers" in the classroom and administration of that Master's program are Marianne Smukowski, Dairy Safety & Quality Coordinator along with Joanne Gauthier, Outreach Specialist. Both are within the Center for Dairy Research on the UW-Madison campus.
In April, the state will graduate another handful of Master's graduates who have dedicated the time, energy, and money to their craft to be labeled a "Master". Easy - no way. Just listen to what being a "Master" really entails.
