October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Over the last year during the pandemic it’s no surprise there has been an increase in online shopping, mobile banking, video conferences, and other online activities and in general as we evolve into a more tech-savvy generation. This is a great time for us to educate consumers on the dangers of identity theft, common scams that are going around and tips to protect themselves. Unfortunately, identity theft impacts 1 in 20 Americans and amounts to losses of $17 billion annually. When we hear about scams, we sometimes think “it’s not going to happen to me” until it does happen to you and then it’s too late.
