Marilyn Bollinger - Buffalo County Century Farm

View descriptionShare

Marilyn’s husband’s grandfather, Louis Bollinger bought the farm in October of 1923. He and his wife Della raised cows, pigs, chickens, and had a large garden. They also grew alfalfa, oats, corn, and soybeans. Twelve acres of the Bollinger farm was and still is an island on the Mississippi River.

Louis and Della sold the farm to their son, Merlin, and his wife, Verna. Merlin and Verna transitioned the Jersey dairy farm to a laying hens/hog production farm. They sold the farm to their son, Thomas, and his wife, Marilyn. Tom and Marilyn bought additional acres to increase the size of the farm to 287 acres. They were pork producers until 2010. Tom passed away in 2021 and his son, Jesse, is operating the farm now and continues to grow corn and soybeans. Marilyn and her family are thankful to receive the century farm award and carry on his legacy.
