Keys to Maximizing Results with Your Calves

Some wet weather is moving through the state this weekend. Ag meteorologist Stu Muck says some of these may be severe. 
Farm Director Pam Jahnke has a conversation with Brian Luck, a biological systems engineer with UW-Madison Extension, about some updates on the changes to the custom operator survey. Luck says the research will now be fully done by UW- Extension.
This morning also involves some education, this being to learn about some new technology that helps speed up the process of putting new structures on your farm, Ben Jarboe talks with Austin Tyler, a drafter and surveyor with the Sharine group, to learn about the use of 3-D scanners for surveying. 
With the Midwest Horse Fair concluding this last weekend it is a good time to think about the best ways to keep your horses healthy this spring, Stephanie Hoff has the details on the vaccines to consider for your horses with DATCP vet Dr. Heather Roney.

Changes Coming To The Custom Operator Survey And Horse Vaccine Considerations

Ellen Schutt has stepped into a new role as Executive Director of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation. She grew up on her family’s farm in Darien, Wisconsin, where they still raise cattle and crops today.

“I loved FFA growing up,” Schutt said. “I was our chapter Sentinel and competed in many different events.” After high school, she attended UW-Madison and joined the Collegiate FFA chapter.

However, her career path took a turn toward politics. For seven years, she worked as a legislative staff member, focusing on agriculture and education issues. Later, she served as a state representative for communities in Rock and Walworth Counties.

“Life changes, and I found this new role with the FFA Foundation,” Schutt shared.
