H5N1 In Oregon Hog - H5N1 Update From CA Dairy - Katie Burgess

View descriptionShare

Happy Halloween.  In recognition of the event, Ben Jarboe brings us an update on Wisconsin's bat population across the state.  Some of our bats have battled illness, and all have battled misunderstandings about what they do and why they hang around.  He gets the correct information from Jennifer Redell conservation biologist/cave and mine specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Rain! Finally Wisconsin's got a little rain.  Stu Muck, ag meteorologist says now temps will drop potentially turning that rain into snow.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is gearing up for deer hunting season in the state.  Officials say because of the mild winter last year, the available population is robust.  Stephanie Hoff gets numbers and details from Jeff Pritzl, DNR deer specialist.

H5N1 has been detected in a small backyard hog in Oregon.  This is the first time H5N1 has been detected in hogs.  Meanwhile, California is now over 153 herds of dairy cattle that have dealt with exposure to H5N1 there.Katie Burgess, broker analyst with EverAg, joins Pam Jahnke to talk more about how H5N1 is impacting California milk production.  She also dives in how holiday purchases are impacting cheese and butter sales.  You can't overlook the short-term impact that next week's election could have on trade.
