Young, Gifted & Queer documentary closes local Pride Month with a bang

View descriptionShare

The documentary, premiering on Channel O on October 30th, fittingly closes out SA Pride Month with a timely celebration of resilience, identity, and the profound impact of Black queer artists and activists on local culture. Schwarp, known for his critically acclaimed debut SKEEF (SHOWMAX, 2021), which delved into queer Afrikaans identity in South Africa, expands his focus this time by spotlighting three black queer influential figures: Andiswa Dlamini, founder and curator of Other Village People; Umlilo, the genre and gender-bending intergalactic kwaai diva; and S’bo Gyre, a multi-talented pop-rapper and entertainment specialist. Director Renaldo Schwarp and gender-bending artist Umlilo joins us via Zoom.
