Tim May is broadcasting all week from The Great Frederick Fair, sitting down with candidates from across Frederick County. Regardless of political affiliation or point of view, WFMD is giving candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves, discuss the issues and let listeners hear directly from them.

This time, Tim welcomed Heather Fletcher and Geoff Seidel, candidates for the Frederick County Board of Education, to discuss why they're running and what they would like to see change within Frederick County Public Schools.

Fletcher, a Point of Rocks mother of three and former air traffic controller, has made academics, parental involvement and fiscal responsibility central themes of her candidacy. She has also advocated for school choice and expanded career and technical education opportunities.

Seidel brings a background in nursing, teaching, leadership and clinical research to his campaign. He says his priorities include stronger academics, safer schools, supporting teachers, early intervention for struggling students, parental transparency and greater accountability in school spending.
