On Mid-Maryland Live, Tim May and Frank Mitchell continued their open invitation to candidates from any party to come on the show and talk about their races and the policies they’re running on. This time, they welcomed Dr. Brenda J. Thiam, a candidate for Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor.
Dr. Thiam, a behavioral health specialist and Republican leader, made history as the first Black Republican woman to serve in the Maryland General Assembly, representing District 2B in Washington County after being appointed by Governor Larry Hogan in 2020. During her time in Annapolis, she focused on issues including education, family law, and public safety. On the show, she discussed why she’s running statewide and the priorities she believes Maryland should be focusing on moving forward.
