The Prince Albert Grand Council's First Nation Cadet Corps is hopeful an upcoming show can help them recoup losses from a recent fire.

The Cadet Corps says they lost years worth of materials when the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre burned in 2022.

The corp is now hosting a production of Bear Grease in Prince Albert as a fundraiser to recoup some of the losses.

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band says it is ready to take legal action against the federal government following the rejection of its claim to increase the $5 treaty annuity payment.

The claim, submitted in February 2025, argued that the annuity should be adjusted to keep up with inflation and preserve its purchasing power.

In response, the federal government maintains it is under no legal obligation to raise the payment.

The project aims to centre First Nations voices and perspectives often left out of the 1930 agreements.

Two volumes are now available, with a third expected later this spring.
