Manga Radio is a special interview series hosted by announcer Hisanori Yoshida, featuring in-depth conversations with manga artists.

For November 2026, we welcome Reiji Yamada, the acclaimed manga artist behind B Virgin and Zetsubō ni Kiku Kusuri (A Remedy for Despair), as well as the main host of the online show Reiji Yamada’s Young Sunday.

In this first installment of a four-part series, Yoshida and Yamada kick things off with a casual conversation about their childhoods spent in Tokyo’s Ginza and Nihonbashi districts.

Yamada then shares fascinating stories from his early years, including surviving creative works he made before he had even learned to read and write, the moment he decided to become a manga artist while still in elementary school, and a life-changing encounter with a book that helped shape his future.

Tune in for an engaging conversation about childhood creativity, the dreams that shape our lives, and the encounters that can change everything.
