Madison is getting ready to turn the Capitol Square green again. The 26th Annual Madison St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized with support from Destination Madison, is set to bring thousands of people downtown for a family friendly celebration packed with music, floats, and community spirit.

During a recent conversation on 93.1 JAMZ Fusion Afternoons, Joe from Destination Madison shared what locals can expect from one of the city’s favorite spring traditions.

The Madison St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place:

1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Wisconsin State Capitol Square in downtown Madison

The parade route circles the Capitol Square and is completely free to attend, making it one of the most accessible community events in the city.

With roughly 400 registered units, the event will feature a wide range of entertainment including marching bands, decorated floats, community groups, and special appearances.

Spectators can expect to see familiar Madison icons like Bucky Badger, the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, and dozens of local organizations representing the spirit of the city.

A Family Friendly Madison Tradition

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has grown into a major community celebration over the past two decades. It is designed to be all ages and family friendly, with colorful floats, festive costumes, and plenty of Irish themed fun.

Some of the floats this year will feature traditional Irish imagery like leprechauns, pots of gold, and shamrocks. But there will also be some creative twists.

One float connected to Logan’s Heart and Smiles is being decorated by kids involved with the organization. Alongside the classic St. Patrick’s Day themes, the float will include something unexpected.

The idea came directly from one of the children the organization supports, adding a playful and personal touch to the parade.

Logan’s Heart and Smiles was founded more than two decades ago in memory of Joe’s son Logan, who passed away due to complications from pneumonia related to cerebral palsy.

For the past 24 years, the organization has helped families across Wisconsin with accessibility and safety improvements for children with special needs.

Wheelchair ramp construction
Bathroom remodels for accessibility
Sensory rooms for children with developmental needs
Therapy swings and adaptive equipment
Custom solutions that help families safely care for their children at home
