That's according to Senior Legal Practitioner and Analyst, Saber Ahmed Jazbhay. This after another Grade 12 pupil from Pretoria High School for Girls was suspended for alleged racist remarks she made in a video. The initial 12 learners who had been suspended over racism claims have been cleared after a hearing. However, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says that they are still busy with the disciplinary process. Meanwhile, Jazbhay says these cases are indicative that there needs to be dialogue and education within the home first, and then at community level to combat racism over time...

By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Non-profit organisation, Gun Free South Africa (GFSA) says gun violence in the country has reached crisis level. This was in reaction to the recent spate of shootouts between armed criminals and police officers which has seen the recovery of high-caliber weapons. In the most recent incident following a cash-in-transit robbery in the Western Cape on Monday, police say seven AK 47 rifles, two R-5 rifles, one R-4 rifle, two pistols and three explosive charges were found in the possession of the suspects. Scores of guns have also been recovered in KwaZulu-Natal over the last few months following shootouts between police and criminals. Researcher at Gun Free South Africa, Claire Taylor says the number of guns which go missing from the possession on law enforcement officials is of concern and needs to be addressed...

This as South Africa observes Rheumatic Fever (RF) week until the 9th of August. The week is aimed at raising awareness about the harm RF can cause to young children and individuals. Rheumatic Fever Week is a week-long campaign to bring attention to RF as a serious autoimmune disease which affects various body parts of a child's body, including the joints, heart, skin, nervous system and the brain. It occurs when a child's immune system overreacts to an untreated throat infection. CEO of the Foundation, Professor Pamela Naidoo says rheumatic fever affects up to 40 million people living in low-income countries and globally, claiming more than 300 000 lives each year...
