More than 20 suspects were arrested at the premises, which is alleged to be a fake call centre operating as a timeshare business. Some of the suspects are believed to be foreign nationals. The property was allegedly being used as a scam call centre, defrauding clients of significant sums of money from their bank accounts. Durban North Community Policing Forum PRO, Darryl Oliver, says the incident has raised concerns about how easily legitimate properties can be used for criminal activity...

by Newsbreak Producer, Tashlan Naidoo - Health advocacy group, the Progressive Health Forum (PHF) are calling for an expeditious and transparent process as the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) pursues criminal charges against those involved in the Life Esidimeni tragedy. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of 144 patients between 2015 and 2016 when psychiatric patients were moved from licensed care facilities to unregistered and ill-equipped NGO's. Convener of the Forum, Dr Aslam Dasoo says a precedent has to be set if we are to avoid such tragedies in the future....
