This is the view of non-profit organisation, the Teddy Bear Foundation for Abused Children as we observe Women's Month. According to a study released by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) in November 2024, approximately seven women are murdered daily, and nearly 60% of these killings are perpetrated by intimate partners. Just last week, a 43-year-old female was allegedly murdered by her partner in front of her child at Cornubia, north of Durban. Director at the Teddy Bear Foundation for Abused Children, Dr Shaheda Omar says women as primary caregivers, need to be better empowered to influence the behaviour of young boys and help break the cycle of patriarchy in society...
