The South African Weather Service(SAWS) says there is a 60-percent chance of rain across KZN, with cold conditions expected in various parts of the province. By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Residents across the Cape Flats are living in fear, saying mass shootings are becoming an increasingly common occurrence in their communities. 11 people were killed in separate shooting incidents in Langa, Gugulethu and Khayelitsha this weekend, leaving residents deeply concerned about their safety. Police are following up all leads and have offered a 100-thousand-rand reward for information leading to arrests in the Langa and Gugulethu shootings. Deputy Chairperson of the Mitchell's Plain United Residents Association, Norman Jantjies, says the deployment of the army has done little to curb gang violence, while community trust in law enforcement remains extremely low...

This is the view of non-profit organisation, the Teddy Bear Foundation for Abused Children as we observe Women's Month. According to a study released by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) in November 2024, approximately seven women are murdered daily, and nearly 60% of these killings are perpetrated by intimate partners. Just last week, a 43-year-old female was allegedly murdered by her partner in front of her child at Cornubia, north of Durban. Director at the Teddy Bear Foundation for Abused Children, Dr Shaheda Omar says women as primary caregivers, need to be better empowered to influence the behaviour of young boys and help break the cycle of patriarchy in society...
