This is according to a security expert who says recent major seizures has exposed the scale and sophistication of these networks. Just this week, police arrested five people at a multi-million-rand drug laboratory on a farm in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg while a similar Mandrax lab was discovered in Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West. Director of the Security Initiative for Africa (SIA) and consultant at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Willem Els warn that the growing local capacity to store and manufacture drugs is raising fresh concerns about organised crime and the infiltration of state institutions...
