The man, Ahmed Vawda who is the owner of Cheeky Security, is accused of disrupting the event at the mosque. Reports claim he fired a shot in the air, entered the mosque with a firearm, and threatened a religious scholar. This incident has sparked widespread condemnation and raised serious concern around public safety and religious harmony. In an exclusive interview with Newsbreak, Vawda blames his medical condition for his behavior.
Meanwhile, the religious facility where the incident occurred has issued a statement condemning the actions of the worshipper. The board of Trustees of Musjid Al Hilal at Overport in Durban say they will put measures in place to ensure the safety of all worshippers and prevent incidents like this from occurring in future.
