This comes after an e-hailing driver was allegedly assaulted and his car held at ransom after dropping off a passenger at the Phoenix Plaza. The Provincial Department of Transport, the police and representatives of the two modes of transport are attending the closed meeting hash out the issues in a bid to improve relations. By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - The Department of Home Affairs has sought to clarify concern around the issuing of online death certificates before the disposal of bodies. Concern was raised by the People's Freedom Party who say this could have a negative impact on those who follow Islamic law - which prescribes for the immediate burial of a body. The department says where immediate burial is required for cultural or religious reasons and a Home Affairs office is not open or available; a notice of death form (DHA 1663) must be completed by a medical professional. This allows the burial to proceed, with formal registration done once Home Affairs offices reopen.
