The launch took place earlier this week at the Suncoast Casino in Durban. It was attended by high profile individuals and radio personalities - including Newsbreak's very own Salma Patel. By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Children's rights advocate and Director of the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children, Dr Shaheda Omar says while statistics indicate a high rate of violence against children, the numbers are much higher due to under reporting. This comes as South Africa marked the start of the 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children, yesterday. A recent report by the United Nations Children's Fund or UNICEF found that 58% of children between the ages of 5 and 16 have experienced direct victimization of sexual abuse. Dr Omar says that the children's cause is sometimes lost during the 16 Days campaign as much more focus is put on women...

The event at the Royal Durban Golf Club will take place on the 8th of December - and in previous iterations was known as the Papwa Memorial - named after the legendary golfer Sewsunker Papwa Sewgolum. It's an event that's known to garner fantastic support and organisers expect this edition to not disappoint - implementing an entry cap of 120 players. Sunny Singh is an official at the Durban Country Club. He explains the rich history behind the tournament...
