The armbands will contain crucial details of parents or guardians and can be secured at various marked points along Durban beaches. Around 200-thousand armbands have been procured. Child minders will be present to assist any family, while beach guides and extra security personnel have been deployed to ensure minimal incidents. Senior Law Enforcement Officer at eThekwini Municipality, Princess Xulu says it is very common for children to become separated from their families during this time of the year due to the high number of bathers, but so far, the numbers are lower than the previous year....

Aimee Naidoo, a counselling facilitator at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) says these emotions are more common than we realize. She is urging people to seek support, manage spending wisely and prioritize emotional wellbeing during the festive season....
