The four-day festival honouring the Hindu God Krishna, takes place over the Easter Weekend and offers family fun, food stalls, markets and devotional discourses. The beachfront is bursting with colour, including the distinctive saffron dress of Krishna devotees. The event is hosted by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness or ISKON. A hot plate of vegetable biryani - a spiced rice dish steamed on an open fire - is offered for free to any member of the public. Yoshan Baboolall, the CEO of Food for Life South Africa says they have already served 75-thousand free meals since the start of the festival...
