Palm trees are a synonymous symbol of Los Angeles. From the beaches, to Hollywood, and LA skyline. This symbol of the city has a deeper and more complicated history than most of us know. This week, Diosa and Mala dig into the roots of the palm tree: native, transplant, and displaced, and how a new documentary, Las Palmas, connects that story to the current immigration crisis.
Starting October 7th, we're launching the 100 Days to 100K campaign to fund the Las Palmas feature film. The campaign will culminate in a screening and fundraiser in early 2027.
About Las Palmas: This short film explores the social, political, and emotional impacts of the displacements of Latine communities currently happening in the streets of Los Angeles.
