Dear Mapaseka
I need your advice. I used to drink alcohol, but I stopped in 2013.
Lately I’ve been thinking about having wine again, but my husband
has made it very clear that if I start drinking, our marriage is over.
He doesn’t drink at all and never has, and he says he wouldn’t have
married me if I was drinking when we met. That really hurt me.
Now I’m feeling like he’s trying to control me. I’m 44, he’s 49... I feel
like I should be able to make my own choices. But at the same time, I
don’t want to lose my marriage over something like this.
Am I wrong to feel this way? Why can’t he just let me be?
