The rollout of Lenacapavir, the antiretroviral drug, is seen as a major breakthrough for South Africa’s entire health system and in the fight against HIV/AIDS. During the launch of the drug in Secunda last week, Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, assured that in the future, South Africa will have the capability to manufacture a generic of Lenacapavir. Yesterday the preventative medication started being rolled out at twenty-two healthcare sites in the Western Cape.
