Morry Frenkel speaks with Elise Esther Hearst, award-winning, Melbourne-based playwright, author and performer, about the international premiere in London of the Melbourne Kadimah Yiddish Theatre’s (KYT) production of “Yentl”. Three stars of the sell-out Australian seasons of the play – co-written by Elise, Gary Abraham and Galit Klas – will appear in the 6-week production at the Marylebone Theatre. Elise talks about the achievement of the KYT team in having “Yentl” play in London and the development of the bi-lingual adaptation that aims to be true to Isaac Bashevis Singer’s short story, “Yentl the Yeshiva Boy”.
