Pennsylvania State Trooper rear-ends pickup truck on Schuylkill Expressway

View descriptionShare

A Pennsylvania State Police SUV rear-ended a pick-up truck this morning on the Schuylkill Expressway.

It happened just before 7am.

According to State Police, a trooper was driving on the right shoulder of I-76 East responding to a hit-and-run.

Then officials say a white pick-up truck pulled onto the shoulder near the exit for the Vine Street Expressway.

The trooper wasn't able to stop before rear-ending the pickup, according to authorities.

The crash pushed the white pickup into another sedan that was still travelling in the right lane of the Schuylkill.

A photo of the state police SUV shows the front-end smashed up and the air bags deployed.

Officials say the trooper and the two people in the pickup truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The sedan had minor damage and the driver drove away from the scene.
