Pa. Democrats plan to introduce legislation to counter Supreme Court’s ruling on criminalizing homelessness

A motorcyclist was killed and a driver was seriously injured in a crash in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday night. It happened just before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Tomlinson Road in the city’s Somerton neighborhood.

Police said the driver of a blue Suzuki motorcycle was speeding northbound on Bustleton when they ran a red light and slammed into a Lexus.

The 27-year motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The 50-year-old behind the wheel of the Lexus is in critical condition at the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.

Motorcyclist dies after slamming into car in Northeast Philadelphia, critically injuring driver

Some Great Valley Middle School students allegedly created fake profiles on TikTok impersonating staff and teachers over this last school year, according to a New York Times article.

NYT reported about 20 educators in the Chester County-based school district learned they were victims of these fake accounts, which had inappropriate content posted on the popular social media app.

In a message from Superintendent Daniel Goffredo, he said he was disappointed and sad, and the students caused “a profound impact” on staff members.

He said they are looking at ways to strengthen the curriculum to address “digital citizenship.” The statement also says some of the middle schoolers’ behavior is protected by the right of free speech and expression, and the district enacted whatever discipline they were legally able to.

Malvern middle schoolers impersonated nearly two dozen teachers on TikTok, superintendent says

Closing arguments are expected today in the federal bribery trial of New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez. He did not testify in his own defense and, when he left court on Wednesday, he said he didn't believe prosecutors proved their case. Prosecutors allege Menendez and his wife accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from three New Jersey businessmen. Two of those businessmen are on trial with him. A third pleaded guilty and testified against him.

The senator's lawyers have tried to shift blame to his wife, Nadine Menendez. She is expected to face trial next month. It was postponed because she is recovering from breast cancer surgery.
