Closing arguments are expected today in the federal bribery trial of New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez. He did not testify in his own defense and, when he left court on Wednesday, he said he didn't believe prosecutors proved their case. Prosecutors allege Menendez and his wife accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from three New Jersey businessmen. Two of those businessmen are on trial with him. A third pleaded guilty and testified against him.

The senator's lawyers have tried to shift blame to his wife, Nadine Menendez. She is expected to face trial next month. It was postponed because she is recovering from breast cancer surgery.
