Biden-Harris campaign criticizes Donald Trump's choice of JD Vance for vice president

View descriptionShare

The Biden-Harris campaign is criticizing the choice of Sen. JD Vance of Ohio to fill out the Republican ticket as Donald Trump's running mate.

Campaign chair Jen Dillon charges that, if elected, Vance will help Trump cut Social Security and outlaw abortions. And if unelected, she says, it's possible that Vance will refuse to accept the results of the November election.

“Trump picked JD Vance as his running mate because he will do what Mike Pence wouldn’t on Jan. 6 — bend over backward to enable Trump and his extreme MAGA agenda, even if it means breaking the law — and, certainly, no matter the harm to the American people.

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren said the choice of Vance is “great news for the wealthiest Americans.”

“Billionaires on Wall Street and Silicon Valley are cheering, but there is no joy for working people,” she said Monday.

Campaign spokesman TJ Ducklo says Vice President Kamala Harris has already accepted an offer to debate Vance.

“If JD Vance is willing to debate her, I can tell you that right now, today, the vice president is fully prepared to take him on.”

Vance has not yet said if he’ll debate the vice president.
