The polls are open until 8 p.m. on this primary Election Day in Pennsylvania. Not much drama at the top of the tickets as Biden and Trump have secured their party nominations. Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican David McCormick are set to face off in the fall as well, as both are running unopposed today. But, there are key statewide races to look out for.
The arrest warrant for Pennsylvania state Rep. Kevin Boyle has been withdrawn.
Mastery Charter Schools, the area’s largest charter school network, is bumping up starting teacher salaries from $55,000 to $60,000 in an effort to cope with a national teacher shortage.
A city inspector general’s report on Philadelphia’s Office of Homeless Services has found that overspending in the department was driven not by criminality or corruption but by a determination to deliver life-saving services through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the rain, which usually tempers gun violence, it has been a bloody weekend so far: with 5 teenagers shot in about 24 hours. Here’s KYWs Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson.
40,000 runners braved the chill and the rain today for the annual Broad Street Run. Runners gathered this morning at the starting line in North Philly for the 10-mile trek south to the the Navy Yard.
This is a big year for Friends of the Wissahickon. The conservation nonprofit is celebrating its 100th anniversary with special events throughout 2024.

A rainy day for a long run — but a long Philadelphia tradition that endures — as 40,000 runners pounded the Broad Street pavement Sunday morning. It's the first time the Run has reached capacity since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Authorities are searching for the driver who struck a SEPTA bus last night along North Broad Street, injuring passengers and the bus driver. It happened around 7:30 in the evening, on the Route J bus, near Lindley Avenue.
Five teenagers have been shot in Philadelphia in three separate incidents so far this weekend — one of them killed.
Philadelphia police say a 25 year-old man was shot several times inside a Crab du Jour restaurant in the city’s Fairmount neighborhood. It happened just after 10:30 along Broad and Brown streets.
It’s National Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year many doctors and clinicians are offering the same advice: Check in. KYW Community Impact Reporter Racquel Williams has more.
