After five years, Kurt and Kate took to the road and returned to Lighthouse Ministries Family Store in Brandon! They've recently renovated that location, and it was wonderful to reconnect with the ministry to get an update on all their services that include residential programs, feeding and sheltering the homeless, and outreach centers within their thrift stores to assist low-income and at-risk families in West Central Florida. The Lord is on the move in and through this ministry, as lives are being touched in powerful ways with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Gretchen Ronnevik writes this: “If you’re in the midst of launching a child into adulthood, preparing them to keep the faith as they grow up, you’ve probably already begun to train them in apologetics. It might not be formal apologetics, though that’s what comes to mind for me: debates, arguments, refuting other people’s beliefs point by point. That kind of apologetics can be helpful for people legitimately wrestling with faith and Scripture. For teenagers especially, it can be a wonderful tool—evidence that Christianity is not illogical, that there are answers to their questions. But as my own children become adults, I’m also realizing apologetics has its limits.” She’s on to something there! Gretchen joined us to explain.

This restoration process offers inmates the opportunity to make a difference for others and experience redemptive purpose in their own lives. Each recipient receives a custom-fit wheelchair and hears the Gospel message. Recipients also receive a Bible in their language, get training in wheelchair use and upkeep, and have the opportunity to connect with a local Christ-honoring church. Last week, several local churches, in partnership with Joni and Friends, served as local donation centers for used wheel chairs, bringing the hope of the Gospel to those with mobility needs!
