Kokoda Is Not Broken: The Story We’re Not Being Told

A recent article in The Australian questions the future of the Kokoda Track, highlighting declining trekking numbers, management concerns and the preservation of military heritage.

After more than 20 years and 100 Kokoda crossings, I believe there’s another side to this story that deserves to be heard.

In this episode, I challenge some of the claims being made, share insights from PNG business leader Tim Bryson, and explore the important work being done to support communities along the Track.

Kokoda is more than an Australian battlefield. It’s home to thousands of Papua New Guineans whose voices, livelihoods and futures matter.

We can honour the sacrifices of 1942 while investing in the people who call Kokoda home today.
