A woman accused of vandalizing the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. has been taken into custody and charged with two federal felonies, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced on August 14, 2026. 

According to a Washington Post analysis, artificial intelligence has emerged as a significant campaign issue in U.S. elections for the first time, appearing in candidate messaging across hundreds of races nationwide.
