Walmart received a massive $2.9 billion tariff refund following court rulings that invalidated major tariffs. The retailer says it will use much of that money to reduce prices for consumers, while warning that higher fuel costs and a softer spending environment are putting pressure on American households. 

The Chowchilla Police Department is asking residents not to act as unofficial crossing guards near local schools, even if their intentions are to help children cross safely. The department issued the warning in a Facebook statement after some community members reportedly began directing traffic and assisting students as the school year started.
