Walmart announced plans to complete installation of digital shelf labels across all of its U.S. stores by the end of 2026. The electronic displays replace traditional paper price tags and allow prices and product information to be updated remotely.

The BBC story covered a Walmart patent for an internet-connected shopping trolley capable of tracking items, displaying information, and potentially simplifying checkout. It was an example of how major retailers were experimenting with smart-store technology, although a patent filing alone did not guarantee the system would ultimately be deployed in stores. 

Kurt Olsen, a prominent figure in efforts to challenge the 2020 election results, has resigned from the Justice Department. He had been working in the Southern District of Florida on a high-profile investigation targeting Obama- and Biden-era officials, a probe that has not yet resulted in charges. His departure follows other personnel changes on the same investigative team.

According to Mediaite, Sen. John Fetterman drew attention during a live event when he accidentally told the audience, "I'm a lifelong Republican," before quickly correcting himself and clarifying that he meant to say he was a lifelong Democrat. 

Residents near the Avenal Regional Landfill are suing over allegations that odors and landfill-gas emissions created a nuisance and harmed their quality of life. The case is now moving through the courts, where the claims and any defenses will be evaluated.
