City Leaders Update Nightclub Shooting

Dog Voter Fraud Gets Unusual Punishment

Philip Teresi reacts to a viral video about a shooting in Fresno's Tower District. A fight outside MIA Nightclub erupted into gunfire, injuring two men, including an uninvolved bystander. Both are expected to survive, and police have since arrested a 16-year-old suspect.

KTLA reports that Laura Lee Yourex, 64, of Costa Mesa, had her criminal case dismissed after pleading guilty to registering her dog, Maya Jean Yourex, to vote and submitting ballots in the dog's name during California's 2021 recall election and 2022 primary election.

TOWER DISTRICT: City Leaders Update Nightclub Shooting

Philip dives into four fascinating stories making headlines: a federal judge allows a class-action lawsuit over McDonald's' iconic McRib to move forward, with plaintiffs claiming the sandwich's name and appearance mislead customers about what's inside. We also explore new research suggesting that healthy carbohydrates like whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables may help slow biological aging, while processed carbs do not. Then, we look at the collapse of the ambitious Villa Vie Residences "live-at-sea" venture after soaring fuel costs left more than 200 residents stranded in Cambodia. Finally, we examine how beer companies captured the fast-growing ready-to-drink cocktail market, leaving liquor giants like Diageo and Pernod Ricard scrambling to catch up.

LOCAL RESULTS: Senate, Assembly, City Council and Trustee Races

The assessment is that voters used the 2026 midterms to check the Trump administration, citing concerns about the economy and the Iran war. The result gave Democrats a significant victory, shifted power in Congress, and set the stage for an intense debate about the future direction of both parties heading into 2028.

The takeaway is that Musk made one of the largest political investments of the 2026 election cycle, spending more than $440 million to help Republicans. Democrats nevertheless delivered a sweeping victory, including major wins in Texas, leaving Musk to navigate a Washington where his political opponents now hold significantly more power.

Analysis portray the Republican media ecosystem struggling to explain a historic midterm defeat. While Trump directed blame toward Fox News, many conservative commentators pointed instead to inflation, high gas prices, unpopular candidates, and the Iran conflict. The result, according to CNN, exposed growing tension inside the broader MAGA movement over who or what is responsible for the GOP's losses.
