The 'Montana Loophole' Scheme 

California regulators are cracking down on the so-called “Montana loophole,” under which Californians use LLCs to register luxury cars in Montana—avoiding state sales and registration taxes. Since 2023, over 2,500 vehicles have been flagged, costing California more than $10 million in lost revenue; 14 individuals and nearly 500 dealers are now under criminal investigation.

A San Francisco tech worker named Alysa Liu had her Instagram account suspended after Olympic figure-skater Alysa Liu won gold and caused a surge of fan confusion.  The suspension came after the skater warned of scammers on Instagram, leading Meta to mistake the other Alysa as an imposter.  

Nearly every region of the U.S. is facing extreme weather at once—from blizzards and a polar vortex in the Midwest and East to a blazing heat dome in the Southwest pushing temps past 100°F, rare March record highs in L.A., atmospheric rivers drenching Hawaii, and heavy snow across the Great Lakes.

ChatGPT Convinced Woman Fire Her Attorney 

Interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje and veteran Michael Chandler, along with other UFC stars like Jorge Masvidal and Chris Weidman, are scheduled to train FBI agents at the FBI Special Agent Academy in Quantico on March 14–15.  

A federal lawsuit filed by life insurance company Nippon claims OpenAI’s chatbot acted as a lawyer and convinced a woman to fire her human attorney. Nippon says it settled a long-term disability lawsuit with an Illinois woman two years ago. Graciela Dela Torre signed a full release, and the case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it can’t be refiled. However, last year, Dela Torre sought to reopen the case.
