Tax season brought bigger refunds this year averaging around $3,462, up 11% from last year, but still falling short of expectations. The White House had projected gains of $1,000 or more, but so far, the average increase is closer to $350. Experts say many taxpayers may be benefiting more through reduced tax bills than larger refunds.
